Alfie - Uncomfortably Numb / About Midday [Blah Blah Blah]

Extremely functional techno house from Alfie on Blah Blah Blah records. Uncomfortably Numb is dubbed out with the perfect amount of garage swing, not to mention the ace synths and vocal snippets. About Midday turns in the garage swing for a chunky house vibe. The classic sounds and arrangements makes me think I'll be playing this for a long time to come.

Grenier - Uncertain/Vendetta [Tectonic]

I'm not sure why I dig this so much. It's pretty simply but if it doesn't get me moving my feet. Wicked moves, get it!

Presk - Hesitate [Fourth Wave]

The new one from Fourth Wave doesn't tread any new ground for the label, but it does show that they've hit their stride. Both cuts have a distinctly raw vibe that would be ideal for sweaty basements. A is good; B is where it's at though!

Ka§par - Ode To The Ancients [Groovement]

It's been some time since we've seen a Ka§par release and this one doesn't disappoint. Top track on here is the remix Carlos Nilmmns but there is something about it that reminds me of an older track. It's that percolating bass and smooth chord sound; for life of me, I can't think of it.

Machinedrum - SXLND [Luckyme]

I recently heard DDD off this EP on the Boilerroom soundcloud and was pleasantly surprised to hear straight-up house from Machinedrum. The rest of the EP doesn’t disappoint and No Respect is my fav of the bunch. Killer EP.

Falty DL - Atlantis [Ninja Tune]

The ever reliable Falty DL drops a new EP on Ninja Tune. Title track Atlantis is my pick but as per the usual, the whole EP is ace.

Dexter - Great Northern Diver [Close Basement Series]

Dexter dropping a great EP on Clone Basement Series that is quite the melting pot of sounds. Top pick of the EP is THING, smudged dub chords with a heavy garage influence, nice.

Throwing Snow - Shadower [Sneaker Social Club]

I'm not quite sure how to classify this one but it's great none the less. Swing style garage/techno/something with a great attention to detail. Wicked Stuff.

George Fitzgerald - Fernweh [Man Make]

After a couple of releases on Hotflush and killer EP on Aus Music, George Fitzgerald has done it again. Fernweh, the title track is good but the real gem here is Hearts. Chest-beating kicks and nice vocal work; then the drop with the bells, fuck yeah!

Don't miss out on his recent RA podcast either, it's awesome.

West Norwood Cassette Library - Get Lifted [WNCL]

Proper dancefloor bombs with a little more than just a likeness to Todd Terry. In fact, if someone said the original was a rare or unreleased Todd Terry production, people wouldn't think twice. Having said that, the bass scene influence is also evident. The remix is is also top notch. Big EP, not to be missed.

Falty DL - Make It Difficult [All City]

Falty DL coming with a little cheeky EP titled “Make It Difficult” where each track sounds like a DJ working a few tables for some nice cuts and layers. The beats slide a little off and then snap to a single groove, dropping a few clever samples here and there, nice stuff.

George FitzGerald - Silhouette [AUS]

John Roberts has really out done himself on this remix. The original tracks aren't too shabby but the experimental element within Robert's remix is awesome.

Darling Farah - Exxy [Civil]

New label and producer for me here. But talk about being a show stopper, "Younger" and "Crown" are some of the coolest tracks I've heard in some time. all clipped and reverbed samples; see line woman hi-hats; detroit stomp; and studio tricks for days. I can't wait to check out what I've missed from this artist/label. Raw.

BNJMN - 141 [Svetlana]

Read full review of 141 - Bnjmn on Boomkat.com ©

The second release from BNJMN is quite a different animal than the first. While the first was immediate and in your face, this is more introspective and relaxed. Not to mention the two awesome remixes from Lukid and Kelpe. Don't miss out on the Kelpe remix, it's a Boomkat exclusive.
